The International Mine Countermeasure Exercise (IMCMEX) spans an area of operations from the Suez Canal, through the Bab-el-Mandeb strait, to the Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, and into the Arabian Gulf. It is aimed at protecting the free-flow of commerce from a range of maritime threats in the region, including piracy, militant groups, and mines.
